Guzel may not leave the country during the investigation. The UAE domestic criminal procedures law does provide for the investigation time limits. Collecting and examining the evidential materials may take from few days to few months. The investigation will be ended by transferring the case file to the public prosecutor who will decide either to close the case for the lack of evidence of corpus delicti or transfer the case to the competent trial court. In the first case Guzel will be released and she then may go to her home country.
Reconciliation and pardon
According to the lawyer Cherniavskaya, even in case of acceptance of the petition of Isa Yamadaev by the Dubai court, the convicted could be only granted some mitigation of penalty, but not a pardon. "Our criminal court’s decisions are based on Sharia law, according to which the human soul and life do not belong to him nor to his family, but to Allah," explained Yuliya Cherniavskaya.
